This uber cool 80’s piece is a Joseph Ribkoff design which we have revamped by making it shorter and more contemporary – you could say we have added the ‘Little’ into this particular little black dress!
Joseph Ribkoff, Inc was founded in 1957 in Dorval, Quebec, Canada, creating mostly designer eveningwear. The firm is still in operation today, producing top quality clothing for women and the label is a highly respected and collectible one in vintage circles.
This horizontal black ribbed effect piece is typical of the 80’s trend known as ‘trashy chic’ – with goldtone buttons embellishing the sweetheart neckline and brandished across the peek-a-boo long sleeves- possibly an earlier take on or inspiration for a certain Miss Hurleys safety pin couture!
These ‘Versace-esque’ buttons show the famous greek emblem ‘head of medusa’ for some extra glam. It also features a criss-cross ribbing on the mid section giving it a slimming illusion.
The shape is bodycon – without being clingy - with shoulder padded sleeves and a seamed bustline adding contour to its new-found shorter length and it is zipped behind.
