This fair-trade bag comes from the Shanzu Transitional Workshop which is a girl-guide project in Kenya for girls and young women with disabilities.
The young women who hand-make these products are taught valuable skills and paid a share of the profits which are sold to tourists and internationally by fair-trade organizations.
Each item is tagged and signed by the young woman who makes it – hence ‘Shanzu by Selena’.
This quilted tote bag is made from a cloth called kikoy, which is 100% cotton, lined with black giving plenty of support and so roomy! It features an inner zipped pocket and long zipper across the top section. The quilted handles are cleverly stitched inside and rope out through double splits each side. The bottom has a solid insert for additional support and framework.
The patchwork pattern is very versatile and features almost every shade imagineable in blocks of horizontal stripes among black. An ethical, practical and ultra cool tote perfect for carrying your daily needs!
